The five months duration of the course will have five capsules as follows.
- Introduction to medical transcription, medico legal issues, software and various teaching aids being used; study of medical report types. Typing tutor and instructions in its use as an aid to learning typing and increasing typing speed.
- Medical word building, medical specialties and pharmacology.
- The basic elements of a medical word. Prefixes and suffixes.
- Building medical terminology.
- The medical specialties.
- Pharmacology and drug classification.
- The use of online drug reference software.
- English grammar and punctuations and their importance in language.
Anatomy and physiology of human body comprising of the study of following specialties in detail along with medical words, diseases and conditions, symptoms, treatments, laboratory tests, abbreviations, vocabulary, sound alikes, and usage of softwares for verification of diseases and drugs.
Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Oncology, Radiology, Hematology, Pathology, and Immunology.
This capsule will introduce the trainee to actual medical transcription starting with audio files, comprising of dictation of doctors, and the various types of reports, used in a hospital. Training for software handling and entry of medical records in excel sheet, EMR is introduced along with Laboratory information system, Radiology information system, Pharmacy. Encapsulating with this is the Personality development, Appointment scheduling, Patient relations, Communication skills, Organizational skills.
This is the most important capsule as it will train the candidates according to the specifications of the hospitals well as the details and the formats of which shall be provided by the hospital which generally include:
- Patient registration
- Appointment scheduling
- Admission/discharge transfer
- Bed management
- Ward management module
- Patient relations
- Doctor’s workbench
- Nursing workbench
- Operation Theater
- Clinic specialties
- Health care packages
- Patient billing
- Hospital administration
- Insurance and contract management
And other topics as per the requirement of the particular hospital.
OJT A: This comprise of transcription of test files, practical of taking phone calls, practice of conversation/ interaction with the patient, arranging seminars and conferences, making patient charts, reports, etc. In short, practical application of the theory done during the entire course.
OJT B: These “Healthcare Managers” have to successfully carry out all the responsibilities outlined by the hospital in the hospital itself before they are selected and absorbed by the hospital.
Healthcare managers advance their career by moving into more responsible and higher paying positions, such as assistant or associate administrator, department head, or CEO, or by moving to larger facilities. Some experienced managers also may become consultants or professors of health care management.
DURATION: 5 months, 5 days a week, 5 hours a day.
ELIGIBILITY: 10+2, graduates, postgraduates (any stream i.e. commerce, arts, bio, maths), unemployed, working executives, Medical Transcriptionists. Good communication skills is an added advantage.
Within four months(excluding OJT), a young graduate is transformed into a skilled Healthcare Manager ready to take the pressures and challenges of the fastest growing dynamic Healthcare Sector.
